- Description: INSPIRE - Annex III - Environmental Monitoring Facilities -Ecological Potential 2021 - The "good ecological potential" is the environmental quality objective defined by the water framework directive for artificial and heavily modified surface water bodies. The ecological potential is assessed in four classes ranging from 1 to 4 (good and higher, moderate, poor, bad). The classification of the ecological potential is based on the biological, physico-chemical and in some cases also the hydromorphological quality elements.

- Title: EF.EnvironmentalMonitoringActivity - Hydromorphology 2021
- Description: INSPIRE - Annex III - Environmental Monitoring Facilities - Hydromorphology - Overall evaluation 2021 - Overall evaluation of the hydromorphological status per surface water body. The assessment of the hydromorphological status is based on the mapping and the assessment of the structural quality of the Luxembourgish watercourses. The quality elements which have been covered in the framework of the structural quality mapping are: morphology, continuity and hydrological regime. The hydromorphological status is assessed in 5 classes. It is a “pessimistic assessment” because only the worst of the three parameters morphology, continuity and hydrological regime is retained.-

- Description: INSPIRE - Annex III - Environmental Monitoring Facilities - (Bio) Macrobenthos 2021 - Macroinvertebrates are one of the four biological quality elements considered in the assessment of the ecological status/potential of surface water bodies. The assessment based on aquatic flora is carried out using five classes: high (blue), good (green), moderate (yellow), poor (orange), and bad (red). Macroinvertebrates are sensitive to hydromorphology and water quality, as well as to the hydrological regime, biological continuity, and the acidification of surface waters.

- Title: EF.EnvironmentalMonitoringActivity - Physico-chemistry 2021
- Description: INSPIRE - Annex III - Environmental Monitoring Facilities - Physico-chemistry 2021 - For the assessment of the ecological status of surface water bodies, physico-chemical parameters are used. The procedures for this monitoring are laid down in the Water Framework Directive (Directive 2000/60/EC) and established by the Grand-Ducal Regulation of 15 January 2016 concerning the assessment of surface water bodies. General physico-chemical parameters are taken into account in the assessment of ecological status, together with specific substances.

- Title: EF.EnvironmentalMonitoringActivity - Phytoplankton 2021
- Description: INSPIRE - Annex III - Environmental Monitoring Facilities - (Bio) Phytoplankton 2021 - Phytoplankton is one of the four biological quality elements considered in the assessment of the ecological status/potential of natural water bodies. The phytoplankton-based assessment is carried out using five classes: high (blue), good (green), moderate (yellow), poor (orange), and bad (red). The assessment of the phytoplankton quality element is only relevant for large watercourses with a natural plankton content and for water bodies designated as heavily modified water bodies (HMWB) with stagnant-water characteristics. Consequently, phytoplankton is analysed only for surface water bodies of type VI, since the phytoplankton concentration in other river types is insufficient, and for the two HMWBs of the Sûre (MEsurf III-2.2.1) and the Our (MEsurf V-1.2), with an annual frequency of six samples taken between April and October.

- Description: INSPIRE - Annex III - Environmental Monitoring Facilities - (Bio) Macrophytes and phytobenthos 2021 - Macrophytes and phytobenthos (diatoms) are two sub-parameters of the biological quality element of the aquatic flora considered in the assessment of ecological status/potential. Aquatic flora is assessed based on the lowest-scoring sub-parameter (worst-case). The assessment of aquatic flora is carried out using five classes: high (blue), good (green), moderate (yellow), poor (orange), and bad (red).

- Title: EF.EnvironmentalMonitoringFacility - Biomonitoring Network
- Description: Biomonitoring Network - Biomonitoring is conducted primarily in urban areas near electric arc steel mills. These facilities represent potential sources of emissions of organic and metal compounds that are then transported by air to urbanized areas. Metal compounds emitted by steel mills are fixed by dust particles. Solid, liquid or gaseous organic compounds may also adsorb or be absorbed by these particles. The organic pollutants studied in a biomonitoring network are dioxins/furans (PCDD/PCDF), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). As an accessory, to complete the observations and to establish correlations with the other pollutants, the accumulation of heavy metals cadmium, chromium, mercury, lead, vanadium and zinc is also analysed.
