  • Title: Protected Sites - CDDA - Nationally designated areas
  • Description: INSPIRE - Annex I Theme Protected Sites - CDDA - Nationally designated areas - The European inventory of nationally designated areas holds information about protected areas and the national legislative instruments, which directly or indirectly create protected areas. The inventory was formerly know as CDDA but during 2024 the acronym will gradually transition to the more accurate NatDA. This reporting obligation is an Eionet core data flow. It is comprised of Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) designated by Member States under the Habitats Directive, and also incorporates Special Protection Areas (SPAs) designated under the 1979 Birds Directive. The establishment of this network of protected areas also fulfils a Community obligation under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
